National Tour – Spring 2014


First in a series of modern classics was Frozen by Bryony Lavery which we co-produced with Birmingham Repertory Theatre in Spring 2014, followed by a short national tour. It was performed by 4 Deaf actors and 2 hearing actors in a visual and physical style. Frozen tells the story of three people affected by the disappearance of 10 year old Rhona.  Nancy, her mother, Ralph who abducted her and Agnetha, a psychiatrist who is studying what causes men to commit such crimes.  The three people’s stories intertwine over a period of 25 years as the play explores grief, emotional paralysis and forgiveness. It was performed in BSL and spoken English.

Our production brought a new perspective to this modern classic by working with a double cast. Each character was played by 2 actors one working in BSL the other in spoken English.
